Google One is a new approach you’ll buy online storage from Google, holding over from a company’s prior Google Drive storage plans

Does that meant Google Drive is going away? No — though a word “Google Drive” now usually refers to a company’s Dropbox-like use where we can upload files to a personal online vault.

Previously, Google Drive was also a company’s name for a gigabytes of online storage you’d share between Drive, Gmail and Google Photos. Now, all of that is called Google One. You’ll buy storage from Google One and conduct it with a Google One app, a association reliable to CNET.

The rebranding also brings a handful of new features. With Google One you’ll be means to share that storage devise with adult to 5 family members. Google says it’ll also now embody “one-tap” patron support for your other Google products — including Google hardware inclination such as a Pixel phones and Google Home speakers.

Plus, Google says it might palm out giveaway Google Play credits to buy apps, song and movies, and offer other sorts of deals as well. (Hotel room discounts were mentioned as one possibility.)

Google One will keep providing a same giveaway 15GB of storage with each Google comment as Drive did previously, according to a company’s blog post. Paid storage options operation from 100GB to 30TB. Some of a prices are listed on a new Google One signup page (see list below). That page serve specifies that “existing 1TB Google Drive skeleton will be upgraded to 2TB during no additional cost.”

Google says it will ascent all of a paid consumer Google Drive skeleton to Google One over a subsequent few months, starting in a US and rolling out globally. According to Google, this won’t impact G Suite business customers.
